Episode: Trailer

I have been in the tea business in some form or another for several decades now and have hosted and led many tea and guided meditation events. They were always well received, quiet and powerful. As I began practicing and researching tea and meditation more deeply, I learned about a program developed at the University of California, Davis for veterinary students. That profession has one of the highest rates of depression, and the university introduced a required tea and meditation practice to help address it. Their research pointed to what Tibetan monks have understood for centuries: that the chemistry of tea—particularly theanine paired with natural caffeine—can support a rare balance of calm and clarity at the same time.
That discovery became a turning point for me. I began including Tibetan imagery in my meditations and they became my favorite form of meditative practice. The Tibetan tradition offered not just inspiration for all the senses, but continuity—an example of tea and meditation practiced together, intentionally, over generations. A Passage to Tibet grew out of that lineage and out of my own experience of watching others change when given the space to arrive – present, steady and awake.
